Between 20, AT&T invested more than $110 billion in its network, including capital investments and acquisitions of spectrum and operations. Praying for refugees: a prayer vigil with Exposition, readings and hymns was held at the Church of Our Lady Help of Christians, Rickmansworth on 24 th February 2016.John Stankey assumed the role of CEO in July 2020 after previously serving as president and chief operating officer. We then set out to walk down Victoria Street to the Houses of Parliament.Ĭhess Valley SVP Vigil for refugees, 24/02/16: On 26 th June 2016 members from local Westminster SVP Conferences, including representatives of Chess Valley SVP, met on the steps of Westminster Cathedral for the Big Mile walk where Bishop Paul McAleenan led us in prayer. The aims are to raise awareness that Christians are working together to combat poverty in all its forms and to raise funds for both organisations. The annual Big Mile walk is organised jointly by the SVP and Caritas Social Action network (CSAN). The Big Mile*, Westminster Diocese, 26/06/16 This picture shows the extent of the assembly operation, which takes place in the hall of an old school building. Employees of a small number of businesses also helped out as part of their “corporate responsibility days”. This year the packs were put together by over ninety volunteer SVP members (including representatives of the Chess Valley SVP), parishoners and a local Muslim charity during the weekends of October and November, ready for delivery round the country. The “Vinnie Pack” (see above) is a plastic bag containing two pairs of thermal socks, a hat, gloves, toothpaste, toothbrush and a biro. Two of our volunteers show the finished product, which generates extremely positive feedback from our clientele. There is inevitably a deficit and fundraising over the next few months is essential if this project is to continue in the future. Most of the money for the materials comes from donations, parish appeals and fundraising activities. Thank you, Jessie, Dave and Katie!Įarlier this year the SVP Westminster conferences swung into action to purchase stock for “Vinnie Packs”, 12,000 of which were prepared over the autumn for distribution to the homeless on the streets of our capital and elsewhere round England and Wales before the onset of winter. Thanks to parishoners’ generosity we donated enough to sponsor over 50 Vinnie Packs. So, several homemade delicious soups and breads were served up – with second helpings eagerly sought. So, with Vinnie Packs in mind, Chess Valley SVP was delighted that Jessie Pione with family and friends offered to put on a Friday soup lunch on January 27th to raise funds for this important SVP activity.

January was a challenging month with periods of severe cold and icy nights. Should you wish to read more about this appeal or make a direct donation please go to Soup lunch for Vinnie Packs (January 2017) We have also donated to the Crisis in Sudan Appeal, which will help with their Baby Feeding Programme and providing Medical Care. Through your support, we have recently been able to help families with fuel costs and needed travel expenses for medical care. We would like to thank all parishioners for their continued support through the SVP boxes in all three parishes since our relaunch on the feast of St Vincent de Paul in September 2015. God willing we will be back to enjoy Christmas 2018 together A very big thank you to all the volunteers. Everyone enjoyed each others company and had some laughs together. As well as singing carols, playing quizzes and pass the parcel we listened to the Queens speech. 35 of us enjoyed a traditional Christmas dinner and all the trimmings. Following on from the success of the monthly Community Lunch we decided to do Christmas Day dinner at St John’s School.
